Coat Drive Collects More Than 160 Coats for
Local Homeless Shelters
During their annual planning meeting, Harrisburg United Women in Faith decided to hold a coat drive to give to those less fortunate in the fall. They made plans to hold the drive in September, and in August they distributed flyers to their membership, the church membership, and asked businesses in the area to post the flyers in their windows or on their doors. They collected more than 160 coats that were distributed to a homeless veteran’s shelter, two homeless communities, the Purple Door Church for their free store and sent some to Henderson Settlement in Frakes, Kentucky.
A group of knitters and crocheters also made hats and scarves to be given out with the coats. The event was so successful and exceeded their expectations that they are already planning next year’s coat drive and several nearby churches have asked to be involved!

Soup and Sandwich Fundraiser Supports
Mission Projects
New Zion United Women in Faith sponsors a soup and sandwich lunch after church during the months of January, February, and March to support different mission projects. After watching Bol Aweng's presentation during our CAS UWF Annual Meeting, they decided to support this ministry. Their January 22 lunch collection was sent to the Buckeye Clinic.
